Brought up in Long Island, New York along with 13 brothers and sisters,   Professor Griff began his study of Martial Arts early in life.  With thirteen years training in Japanese Ketsugen Karate (2^nd Degree Black Belt), three years Wu-Shu training, two years Korean Style Tae Kwon Do (Green Belt), two years Hung Gar Kung Fu training, and one year Aikido training, Professor Griff has utilized the skills and discipline instilled in martial arts throughout his career. 

As a youth, Professor Griff formed The Universal Revolutionary Freedom Fighters Society (TUFFS) in Long Island, NY, providing study groups and martial arts training for young people. While offering security services in New York, Professor Griff and childhood friend Chuck D collaborated to form the Revolutionary rap group Public Enemy, in which he held the position of Minister of Information, and leader of  "Security Of The First World" aka S1W’s, the group’s security force known for disciplined drill style defense techniques rooted in martial arts.  Professor Griff has also provided security services to business establishments.

In 2003, Professor Griff identified the need for personal defense with every day individuals, and combined his twenty-one years of martial arts training with the talents of long time stunt man, and fellow martial artist, Mesan Williams, to develop the concept of MACE Martial Arts Combat Exercise.  

This combination of Martial Arts, Boxing and Aerobic disciplines was developed to equip anyone with the ability to withstand, and survive a physical attack (depending on level of conditioning and will).  In 2004, Professor Griff began offering MACE with the hopes of empowering and positively impacting the lives of potential victims everywhere.
